contact and talked to each other. If the two jinns that met before the men could have rapport with each other, then the two men would also become friends. For this reason, we have certain idioms in the Türkmen language such as, “His jinn could not get close,” or, “His jinn did not like the other.”

I am not talking about these national characteristics only because they are interesting by nature. What I wish to say in particular is that in this old line of thought, one sees clearly that friendship is a pure and spiritual thing. For the jinns are not after any material benefits whatsoever. They don’t have any special wishes either. They established relations only on the basis of whether each one’s “self” agreed to talk with the other. This means that real friendship has nothing to do with material benefits. It is first of all the harmony between souls, characteristics and ideas.

Therefore there are different kinds of friends:

True friends;

Friends of gluttony;

Friends of women;

Friends of material values;

Friends of professional posts.

Only the first one is your real friend. All the rest are false and after their own benefits from you.

Friendship is a great concept. For it relieves one of spiritual loneliness. Since friendship is an excellent matter of ethics, there are many beautiful literary works on friends and friendship.
