The dining table is assumed to be holy by the Türkmen nation

There are sacred values and wonders which have been wrought by the Türkmen nation in the course of our long history.

The dining table is assumed to be holy by the Türkmen nation. The dining table is the sign of unity and it gathers the Türkmens around itself. The dining table is the pledge of the Türkmen. When the Türkmens are asked, “Who is Han?” they answer, “The dining table.”

Türkmens gather with their brothers, friends and relatives around a dining table. When a Türkmen wants to marry a girl, he takes a bundle with a loaf of bread to the girl’s family. If her family accepts the boy as a son-in-law, then they take the bread from the bundle and send it back with a new loaf.
